International Theatre Institute (ITI), based in Paris –
Centre of the Federal Republic of Germany, Berlin

The ITI is a global international theatre network having served, under the patronage of the UNESCO, the exchange of persons engaged in the theatre sector. It was founded in Prague in 1948 and has at present about 90 national centres. The ITI Centre of the Federal Republic of Germany lists about 200 members; the euro-scene Leipzig has been among them since 1994. Every three years it hosts the Theater der Welt (Theatre of the world), Germany’s largest theatre festival. It was last held in Hamburg from 25.05. – 11.06.2017. Theater der Welt was supposed to take place in Dusseldorf in May 2020, but had to be cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. The new date for the festival is: 17.06. – 04.07.2021.

This year’s annual general meeting of ITI will be held within euro-scene Leipzig 2020. There will be internal events for members of the ITI as well as a public discussion for both the audience of the festival and everyone interested at Alte Handelsbörse Leipzig from 06. – 08.11.2020.
