In his latest dance piece, Alain Platel, renowned director and choreographer from Flanders, shows six people on the outskirts of a city. Despite poverty they are full of energy and a lust for life. Dance is interwoven with language and the music by Johann Sebastian Bach underlines the very own beauty of deviation and strangeness.

Schauspiel Leipzig in coproduction with euro-scene Leipzig

A young woman is struck by ghostly manifestations and forms of possession. The Dybbuk, a malevolent spirit of the dead according to Jewish folklore, asserts its evil intent. This flamenco performance unites dancer, musicians and the Leipziger Synagogalchor.

Before the presentation: introduction 19.00 Uhr in the Rangfoyer

Heiner Müller created this five-part apocalypse in verse from 1984-87 based on texts and subjects by Alexander Bek, Anna Seghers, Franz Kafka and Heinrich von Kleist. Countless stories deal with resistance, arbitrariness and happiness.

The end of the capitalist economic system is satirised with fun. Two men attempt to live independently of money and consumption on their piece of land. The performance unites socio-political science fiction and reality.

Human communication is based upon copying and imitating in our world. The audience members find themselves on stage together with the performers. The daily floods of images and the reproducibility by media are called into question in an ironical, funny way.

Berndt Stübner and Werner Stiefel created an enchanting play for children with puppets, songs, dance and music. Based on the fairytales of the Grimm brothers, it poses current questions about greed and money, and the young viewers are brought into the performance. Music: Tilo Augsten

A creature slowly creeps into the space, born from the earth. In archaic landscapes the creature strives for fulfilment and falls back at the end. Olivier Dubois choreographed this unusual piece for 17 dancers.

Orpheus mourns the death of his beloved wife Eurydice. His attempt to bring her back to Earth from the underworld fails, but Amor once again takes pity. Belgian choreographer Frédéric Flamand created this opulent dance opera based on the opera of the same name by Christoph Willibald Gluck. (Music brought in)
