Martha has had little joy in life since the death of her husband and would rather just give up her corner shop. Her son Walter, the sanctimonious village pastor, wants the shop for his bible group anyway. Luckily, the feisty Lisi fights against the general resignation and convinces Martha to realize her life-long dream: opening her own lingerie boutique. The feigned morality of the entire village is turned on its head overnight by the »sinful sexy underwear temple«.

This charming and funny film by Bettina Oberli, born in Interlaken in 1972, plays with moments of country theatre and the supposed backwardness of the country folk. At its core, however, it deals with worrying themes: the dysfunctional relationship between the generations and the incapacitation of the elderly. »Die Herbstzeitlosen« (»Late bloomers«) quickly advanced to becoming one of the most successful productions of 2006 and has held second place among the most popular Swiss films in history without interruption ever since.
