»May B« – a legend, »May B« – a dream, »May B« – an event. Everyone who has seen this play gets sparkling eyes from the memory that it leaves behind, even years later... »May B« is the most popular and most-performed dance piece of France. After over 400 performances in dozens of countries, it practically belongs to France's cultural heritage. It was first performed 18 years ago and virtually embodies an entire epoch in dance. After several years of effort, it can finally be seen in Leipzig.

Waiting – nobody has carried it over to the theater as well as Samuel Beckett (1906-89) who made theater history with »Endgame«, »Happy Days« and, above all, »Waiting for Godot«. Although, at first sight, it seems completely unsuitable for dancing, it was exactly this waiting which enchanted Maguy Marin. In fact, it resulted in a dance piece of terrific passion, whose mysterious spell lies in the mixture of concrete situations, humorous-ironic distance, powerful dance personalities and a wonderful choreography which blends in with the music.

»This piece about the works of Samuel Beckett, whose theatrical body language and atmosphere compliment the physical and aesthetic performance of the dancers, serves as a foundation for a secret discovery of our most intimate, hidden and unknown gestures. For us, it was about showing these tiny or even magnificent gestures, the variety of the hardly perceptible, banal life in which the waiting and the not ›entirely‹ still motionlessness leave behind the emptiness, an immense nothingness, a shore of silence full of insecurities« (Maguy Marin).
