Six women are trying to find their way. As different as the women themselves are so varied are their ways. Frivolously pertains »Rendez-Vous« mainly to the struggle with one's alter-ego and to that with others. Each of the women wants to be a winner in the race for success, beauty, career, and recognition. The title is ambiguous: one meets with one other but basically one doesn't care about the other.

In »ONO« on the other hand the dancers in the solos, duos and group scenes embody an ideal type of society that brings the individual and the general into a balance. Next to the incentives of music that were created as free improvisation by Petras Vishniauskas, Christoph Baumann and Jaques Siron, it is the ch tanztheater itself that co-determines the choreographic structures with its personalities.

The ch tanztheater Zürich belongs to the best and internationally most successful troupes of the extremely large Swiss dance scene. Since its foundation in 1979 did the company substantially participate in shaping the development of the free dance and theatre movements in its native country. With the construction of its in 1989 completed Zurich Westend Theatre as a centre for modern dance took the company a big step forward. Not only is the theatre a focal point for the company but also for those of the many guest companies.

The appeal of the thrilling and emotionally-charged double-evening stands not only on the topic but also on the different signatures of the two excellent choreographers. Denise Lampart is a supporting member of ch tanztheater Zürich since 1984 and danced demanding roles in over 25 productions. »Rendez-Vous« is her first big creation after several shorter choreographies. Tsutomu Ben Lida was, together with Eve Trachsel, one of the founders of the ch tanztheater Zürich. As choreographer he created plays such as »X-Rays« or »nordwaerts« for this company that went around the world and assured the reputation of the ch tanztheater Zürich as significant contemporary dance company. Afterwards, as from 1987, he worked as independent choreographer in Belgium, Germany, Japan, Canada and Switzerland. Today he works as co-director of the ballet at the state theatre in Braunschweig.

»The dance searches for the theatre and the theatre for the dance. An adventure for choreographers, dancers, and audience« (Lilith Frey, Blick, Zurich, 11.02.1994).
